Dear Parent/Caregiver,

 

Our Lady of the Rosary Parish Kensington provides Catholic Special Religious Education (SRE) for children in preparation for the sacraments throughout the year. The Sacrament of First Eucharist is being offered for baptised Catholic children who are in Year 3 or above who have made their First Reconciliation. They will be guided and supported through their preparation by our catechists and priest. Following are the 2025 details:

KEY DATES

Parent Information Meeting: 6 August at 6.30pm inside OLR Church

​

Commitment Mass: 9 August, at 5.30pm at OLR Church For all enrolled candidates and their families. During Mass candidates will be presented to the priest and the congregation.

 

Preparation Sessions: 4.00pm-6.45pm in OLR Church Foyer inclusive of the Vigil Mass (see the dates below)

First Eucharist Ceremony: Sunday 21 September 9.30am OLR Church

Retreat Day: 4 September 9am-2.45pm at OLR Primary School

 

Registration: Contact the Parish Office at sacraments@olrkensington.org.au to have an enrolment form emailed to you. Please attach a copy of your child’s Baptism and Reconciliation certificate with the completed enrolment form. The closing date for enrolments is 3 August. You will be contacted to confirm that your enrolment has been approved. Once approved you will need to pay the below fee. If you require any further information, please contact the Parish Office weekdays on PH: 9663 1070 9.30am – 3.00pm or by email.

Children are required to attend all the preparation sessions and above events. Preparation session cancellations due to medical emergencies or special family circumstances need to be made prior to the class by email to olrkensoevangelise@gmail.com

 

Safeguarding standards require that your child be accompanied by a parent/adult carer to attend each of the preparation sessions and the Commitment Mass. As part of the preparation, the candidates are expected to be attending weekly Sunday Masses. Attendance at weekly Sunday Mass is a teaching of the Catholic church.
